When Will I See You Again?
A series of 40 photographs taken in Chicago during the 2020 lockdown. Tracking the passing of the seasons, changes in the weather and the sense of isolation from the community. Observing the lives of the neighbours but never knowing them, trapped within the bounds of the window frame. For nearly ten months the only connection I had with the outside world was through the zoom calls with students from 8:00 till 4:00, zoom calls with family back in the UK and zoom calls with friends in similar apartments in the same city, unable to meet for even a coffee. The multiple windows in series remind me of the windows on a zoom call. Viewing the community this way gave a sense of being but not belonging. In a time of profound solitude, immense loneliness and an almost desperate longing for connection.
