Mask Making

Masks are a fantastic way to collaborate with the Drama department. Either using Comedia Del’Arte, animals or any other theme to allow students to change their identity and fall into new characters. This unit teaches students about relief, real and implied texture, painting and 3D sculpting with papier mache. When using animals as a theme we linked to the West End production of The Lion King where the students participated in a workshop with the actors before attending the show. They then used their own masks in drama lessons much to great delight.
