Created whilst living in Dubai, the choice of media has been drawn directly from the environment, local magazines, newspapers, flyers, and other printed paper media. The intentional selection of found paper materials anchors the work to the geographic context; a combination of languages, colours, and patterns come through in individual collages. Using intuition to guide the assemblage creates narratives in the concertina books representing a feeling or memory I wanted to keep or process through folding, ripping or cutting to create detailed compositions. Each collage and consequent book is a self-portrait capturing a moment in time.
