Experimental Mark Making
In this unit, students use materials experimentally to answer the fundamental question “what if?” What if I use a twig? What if I paint under the desk? What if I use my feet? In this vain almost anything goes as long as it is exciting. Students create their own paintbrushes out of found and natural objects foraging in the school’s outdoor spaces for materials. Students are excited by the audacity of tying twigs together and painting with them, they feel empowered by the idea that there are no limits to art creation.
